Today's Jann To-Day

I am Jann to many. I adore laughing, snuggling, cooking, people watching, and a stiff cup of coffee or 5. Let's be friends!

So, for the first Sunday in what seems like AGES Mr. TODAY and I actually brunched. No kids, no plans, just some adult Sunday Funday with our most favorite. We started off going to Market restaurant, and when Mr. TODAY decided to park a few miles away, because he was on the phone the WHOLE way downtown and he refused me to help with directions, we decided I pouted until we walked into the first restaurant I saw Beasley’s Chicken + Honey

Let me start off by saying, GO! NOW! YESTERDAY! It was UH-MAZE-ING! First, I do NOT eat chicken on bones, nor do I eat dark meat. I know its weird, ok, I get it, TRUST me, its weird. DEAL WITH IT! So why would I want to go to a fried chicken restaurant that only serves dark meat chicken you ask? Well it was for the bacon washed bourbon. Call me a lush, but that is why. And y’all, I think I might never drink normal bourbon again, bacon washed or bust.

As for the restaurant. In typical Ashley style, all of the menus are on the walls, the decor is minimal yet inviting, and the bathrooms have a special little something. It was a comfy place to enjoy our friends for a few hours. Not to mention the cocktails and custom Fullsteam beer were to-die-for. I am not too sure I would want to go there for dinner, but as far as an awesome lunch/brunch place I am FOR IT! I mean drinks with the boss anyone? Anyone? No, just me, ummm ok, cool Jann!

What we ate..

I had a chicken (dark, fried thigh meat) biscuit with two sunny side up eggs and a little North Carolina cheese on top. I also got a side of pimento mac-n-cheese. What did I drink? Benton’s Smokey Old Fashioned, a Strong Willed (who doesn’t LOVE Campari?), and one of the Fullsteam custom honey ales. My biscuit was so good I tried to get Mr. TODAY to bring me one for lunch this afternoon. Apparently he doesn’t love me, because I was stuck eating the salad I brought from home.

Needless to say, Beasley’s Honey + Chicken will become part of my brunch rotation. I will also continually suggest it to each and everyone looking for a good brunch.

Go!

XOXO
